Luigi Novarese

Blessed Luigi Novarese (29 July 1914 - 20 July 1984) was the co-founder (with Sister Elvira Myriam Psorulla) of the Apostolate of the Suffering and The Silent Workers of the Cross. He also built several homes for those who were ill and disabled.〔(EWTN page on the The Silent Workers of the Cross )〕
In the first step towards sainthood, he was declared a Servant of God by Pope John Paul II on 1 July 1994. Pope Benedict XVI approved the decree of his heroic virtues on 27 March 2010 and recognized a miracle attributed to his intercession on 19 December 2011. He was beatified by on 11 May 2013 in Rome by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, representing Pope Francis.〔(Radio Vaticana )〕
